Dr. Susan Landes has been working
in the fields of mental health and addiction since 1987. She received her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Specialization in AOD from J.F. Kennedy University in 1989. Dr. Landes earned her doctorate from the Wright Institute in 2003. The primary focus of Susan’s clinical work has been using DBT in her clinical practice in Oakland for the past five years and has recently started a clinic for DBT in her new psychotherapy practice in Auburn. In addition to providing psychotherapy, Dr. Landes also provides supervision, consultation and program design and development.
Jim Sellars, M.A., LAADC, CADC II, SAP:
Quality Management Coordinator
With a passion to help others with their drug addiction, Jim
pursued a career in substance abuse counseling. In 1985, just three weeks after being discharged from a residential treatment program from his own drug addiction, Jim enrolled at Sacramento State University, Chemical dependency course for counselors.
In 1986, Jim became a member of the California Association of Alcohol and Drug and Abuse Counselors (CAADAC), and became certified in January of 1989. In 1986, Jim attended American River College, and earned a degree in Human Services, and graduated with highest honors.
In 1988, Jim attended Sacramento State University and earned a degree in Psychology. While at Sacramento State, Jim rowed on the rowing team, and worked as a counselor full time.
Still hungry for more education, Jim attended graduate school at John F. Kennedy in Orinda where he earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in Addiction while working full-time as a primary therapist/counselor at Merritt-Peralta Institute in Oakland.
After earning his Master’s Degree, Jim got married to his wife, Karen, and has lived in Rocklin since 1997 with their 13 year-old daughter. For the past 19 years up until his knee injury last year, he has been an avid runner completing 60 marathons, and 2 ultra- marathons (50k).
Jim has served on the California Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CCBADC) as a member, and recently as Chair of the Certification Board. Jim serves on other boards and advisory committee’s in the community to address alcohol and drug issues.
Jim has worked in a variety of treatment modalities over the past 27 years in the Bay Area as well as the Sacramento area. He recently was hired to work as Quality Management Coordinator for CoRR on January 3, 2012 after working for the largest substance abuse provider in the nation, CRC Health Corporation for nearly 10 years.
He is currently a CARF Surveyor for Behavioral Health Programs, and looks forward to working with everyone at Community Recovery Resources to provide the best quality care to our clients, and our staff.
